Diana Taylor, RN, President/CEO of Freedom Home Health Care has always had a passion for helping others.  Becoming a nurse was a goal that she set for herself and she was willing to put in all the hard work to obtain it.  Her journey to becoming a nurse began at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), where she earned her RN Degree.  While attending school, Diana was blessed with the news of her first child.  She soon found out that her son would have a disability, but it did not deter her from obtaining her goal.

          Diana had an amazing support system, but juggling nursing school, working, caring for a disabled child, and starting a family became difficult at times.  While walking along the DMACC Campus, she stumbled upon a Home Care Agency recruiting for Home Health Aides.  At this moment, Diana learned about Home Care and all the possibilities it offered to assist people with disabilities.  It wasn’t long that she became a Home Health Aid while attending nursing school and continuously educating herself about the Home Health Care industry.

          Home Care Services soon began for her son, but Diana found many aspects of it to be challenging.  She became an advocate for the services her son was receiving, along with having to justify his medical necessities.  One of the many challenges Diana faced was appealing the decision of Medicaid to approve that her son’s needs could be met at a day care setting.  However, day care centers were not comfortable in caring for a toddler who could not sit up independently.  He also had contracted arms and legs along with a reactive airway.  At this point, Diana had the passionate need to not only be her sons advocate, but also for other parents experiencing the same matter.

          Diana worked her way up from Home Health Aide to Home Health Case Manager, and finally a Home Health Administrator.  She also became a private consultant for other local home care agencies assisting in startups, creating quality improvement, and initiating plan of corrections for agencies struggling.  With many experiences and knowledge under her belt, she realized that she had not only the education, but also the passion and determination to start her own Home Care agency.

          Diana wanted to provide the best care with a focus on the elderly and disabled.  She also wanted to give back to the community the best way she knew.  By going through the many trials and tribulations she faced, it has prepared her to set her standards high.  Diana has embodied what it is to be an advocate for every elderly and disabled person, and on February 2008 Freedom Home Health Care was born. 

 

          Freedom Home Health Care is CHAP Accredited and Medicare Certified.  It is a privately-owned home care agency in Iowa, serving the people of Iowa.
